Well, it's pretty clear it's time to discuss where we want to go from here.

I (Jen) will get further into things in a moment from my own perspective, but first things first. Clearly things haven't gone as planned and the mod team isn't too sure where to proceed from here. We have a few options...

1. Get out the jumper cables and try to jump start things, if the interest and will is there. We did create a good deal of ground work for plot and other happenings, so there is material there to be used.

2. Musebox it? Maybe a Disgaea/NIS based roleplay setting would just go better as a open musebox type setting.

3. Give up entirely. The saddest option, but it's there none-the-less.

4. ??? Is there an option that we should perhaps consider? We're all ears.

We're completely open to any thoughts on the matter. Either way, thank you all for joining us.

Per the previous post, on Friday, June 13, some folks are going to try helping the Dimensional Gatekeeper repair the Gate. It isn't going to work, but! Thanks to a certain Pidonus Marasia's involvement, everyone in the game is going to start behaving a little strangely...

From Friday until the following Thursday (June 19), characters will be randomly hit by her charm effect! What does this mean? For a period of time, that character will perceive everyone as a friend. The duration and exact timing of this effect is up to you.

Have fun making friends!

We all know that local Netherworld residents and most newcomers alike are annoyed by the Dimensional Gate's malfunction. We should be doing something about it, right? Well, here's your opportunity!

Or at least, your opportunity to try.

The Gatekeeper is at a loss for solving this on her own and would like to enlist the help of anyone who's willing to see if they can come up with a way to fix the Gate. They won't be successful, but their attempts will cause some rather... interesting side effects.

What kind of interesting? That's actually up to you! The effects will be based on the abilities of those helping out. They can affect the characters themselves, like everyone temporarily gaining the ability to scarfbend, or just cause weird things to happen, like the creation of an actual Flonnezilla monster.

This will also be happening again in the future! We'll be using RNG to select the powers in effect from those who sign up, but if you don't get picked this time around, you'll still be in the running for the next round of Gate mishaps.

We'll announce the effects in play on Wednesday, and the event will start on Friday, June 13th!

That being said, the sign-up post is here. Have at it. =)

ALSO! If you haven't already, please make sure to comment to the Activity Check! This month is check-in only. Thanks!

Well, it seems pretty unanimous that we should add a network to the game, so we'd like to introduce the Hellberry!

Yes, in a surprise move, Rosenqueen has suddenly released this new model of smartphone and are, for some reason, handing out them out, complimentary to all who come through the dimensional gate.

The Hellberry runs the Pringer (Version A) aka Pringer-A operating system, by Doodle. To use your phone, you'll be forced to have a Doodle account, which will, of course, automatically also sign you up for Doodle+, Doodle's social networking site. (What? You say this sounds kinda familiar to something, dood? I don't know what you're talking about, dood! :Oa)

Doodle+ will allow you to communicate with everyone, (because you seem to be automatically friended to everyone and cant de-friend them,) via text, voice and even video with the front facing camera on your phone. There is also a back facing camera, a headphone connector (head phones/headset not included) and comes with a charger. The battery life is not long enough typically a few days, but it depends on usage. The phone will also use local wifi and data.

The phone comes with a prinny shaped case, which can be swapped out for various other prinny designs!

Rosenqueen is not responsible for any manufacturing or software defects, such as: randomly shutting down, turning on, dropping calls, or the rare occurrence of static shocks. They are also not responsible for any mishandling by the user, accidental or not. They will not replace or refund any phone. (So if you break it, you'll have to actually buy a new one. They won't give you a free phone a second time!)

A rough design of the phone can be seen here!

The phones will be introduced into the game later today in an IC post and please see the edited FAQ to see the changes!

If you have any questions or anything, please leave a comment!

When we first started to make this game, we decided against trying to shoehorn in a premade “game network”. We know how useful and widespread it is, but given the setting, we arrived at the conclusion that forcing a network to immediately exist wouldn’t exactly work. So we decided against it. However, the technology for this does exist, it just doesn’t seem widespread within the Castle. The option to later have some form of long distance communication, such as e-mails or cell phones, is planned, especially as people start moving away from the Castle.

However, there have been some concerns about how having no network makes it harder to start off posts or tag people in general. We didn’t want an official network, but at the same time, we don’t want players to be forced into awkward posting methods.

So before coming to any decisive actions, we wanted to ask the players their opinions on this subject. How would you feel about a network? Is the lack of network affecting how you play the game? Would you like things to remain as they are right now, or would you really prefer to have some sort of portable communication device immediately?

Oh and rest assured that if we do bring in a network, you'd still be allowed and encouraged to make action posts, so don't worry about this.

If there’s anything Disgaea taught us, it’s that fighting forges friendships… so how about a little invasion to help start that up?

As the post says, around the start of the afternoon, an army of ghosts will show up, blasting a hole through the wall leading from the garden to inside the Castle, allowing themselves in.

For those inside the Castle, you don’t really have a choice: the ghosts will attack you immediately. For them, you are all trespassers at best, or Laharl’s own army at worse, and they will stop at nothing from forcibly removing you from their paths. The Leader is also there and he is going to go straight for the throne.

People outside the Castle? Do not worry: they have the area around the Castle surrounded, so unless you have managed to find yourself truly out there, you will see them. You can avoid them, but if they spot you… well, you look like an easy looting target.

Now as for the ghosts themselves, they aren’t all that strong: a few good hits and they will be down. They hit moderately hard, but will try as many status spells as they can. You can see their attacks at the start of this video. However, the problem here isn’t how strong they are, it’s their sheer number. One falls another one comes back.

Multiple threads will be set up depending on where you want to join in. The Leader will be mod controlled, but feel free to NPC the regular ghosts as you play along.

If you have any questions or comments, please leave a comment below and we’ll get back to you asap!

First off, we'd like to thank everyone for making our opening so much fun! Everyone participated, and we reached quite the comment count!

Because so much of our threading was on the opening, though, we're going to consider all that in slow-time. That means that as of today, your characters have only passed 4 days in the Netherworld. Going forward we will progress on 1-to-1 real-time days. (At least, that is our plan. If players would be interested in a slower game time to real time, let us know! Nothing is set in stone.)

We also thought this was a good time to clarify your current options as your characters begin to settle in!

If you've seen Laharl's announcement, then you know he's offered everyone two means of staying in the Overlord's Castle: paying rent or becoming his vassal. We've created a page for Player Jobs and Businesses to keep track of both vassals and player-created businesses! We know some of you are planning on opening them and we're looking forward to that. A few characters are already listed based on IC interactions, but if you want to sign up your character for one of the available positions, you aren't required to thread it out. Please check out the page for more details, and comment so we can add you!

We've also decided that all characters will receive HL on completion of AC. This might be your salary as a vassal or employee, or it might be HL you "found" somewhere. At minimum, you can assume your character has enough to pay rent, for those who need to. Rent is 60,000 HL (which would be roughly around $600.)

Alternatively, your characters have a third option: leaving the castle! Emizel seems to be the first to vacate if you'd like to join him. There is always camping out on the Plains of Grief, after all! And, who knows, perhaps some other options might come to light. It’s up to you, but we do suggest you team up, because it can be dangerous out there!

Hello everyone!

We'll be opening tomorrow, March 13th, at 13:13 (1:13 PM) Eastern Time! You can expect an opening post then!

Meanwhile, we'd like to take the chance to announce we have a fourth person who'll be joining the mod team… Hayley! She'll be actually acting as not a main mod, but more of a... Mid-Mod.

As a Mid-Mod, she'll be helping us look at applications and behind-the-scenes plotting. She's also open to answering any Disgaea/NIS Canon related questions! (Any more rule/game related questions should be directed to the other mods.)

We'd also like to draw everyone's attention to the FAQ pages. We added a few more things the other day, particularly concerning something dear to our hearts, the Fourth Wall. As we are asked questions and situations come up we will be updating the FAQ accordingly. (As, of course, we'll likely find ourselves having to answer questions we weren't able to foresee ourselves.) We'll be sure to draw everyone's attention to any major changes/additions.

With that, we invite any with questions to please feel free to comment below!
